A Comparison of Car Rental Rates in the USA - Fall 2024

Little Rock, the capital of Arkansas, is the most expensive destination in the United States for renting a car this fall, according to a survey by Cheapcarrental.com.

The survey compared rental car rates at 100 U.S. airports during the period from September to November 2024. With an average rate of $95 per day for the most affordable rental car, Litte Rock's Clinton National Airport emerged as the priciest destination.

Second most expensive is Charleston, South Carolina, where renters can expect to pay $91 per day for the least expensive car, while Madison, Wisconsin completes the podium with a daily rate of $87. Just a dollar cheaper are rental cars at St. Pete–Clearwater and Reno-Tahoe International Airports.

At the other end of the spectrum, the least expensive destination to rent a car this fall is Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. At Raleigh-Durham International Airport, you will have to spend an average of just $41 for the least expensive rental car.

On average, across all 100 airports considered by the survey, the average daily rental rate is $64.50 – down about 28% compared with rates during summer 2024. Compared with fall 2023, rates have increased by just 0.5%.

About the Methodology
Rates were established in late August, based on CarTrawler.com comparison technology. For each destination, the leading 10 car rental companies located at the airport terminal or the airport’s official rental center were identified. Rates include all taxes and fees.
