Survey: The Most Expensive Car Rental Destinations in the World for Easter

March 26, 2026

New York City is the world’s most expensive destination for renting a car this Easter, according to a survey by Cheapcarrental.com. The survey compared rental car rates across 300 airports worldwide during the period April 2 – April 7, 2026.

With average rates of $124 per day for the most affordable car,  JFK Airport in NYC emerged as the priciest destination overall. Compared to regular rates during spring, travellers will have to spend 48% more than usual.

Second most expensive is Bogata, the capital of Colombia, where travellers can expect to pay an average of $122 per day. In Colombia, the Easter period is the busiest travel week of the year – resulting in a 167% increase in car rental rates at Bogota airport.

Easter Week is also a busy travel time on the Italian island of Sicily, with several popular processions taking place during this period. Given this, it’s no surprise that car rental rates also skyrocket on the island. With average daily rates of $117 for the most affordable rental car, Catania Airport, located on the island’s east coast, is the third priciest car rental destination in the world over Easter..

Rounding out the Top 10 are Nice in France and Burbank in California, where average daily rates are $116 and $112 respectively. Also making the list are Cairns in Australia, San Francisco, Palm Beach, Charleston and Marseille, with each destination averaging $100 per day or more for the cheapest available rental car over Easter.
