Review: Nextcar Car Rental - Miami Airport
NextCar Rental is a U.S.-based car hire company founded in 2003 and is self-proclaimed to be the largest locally owned and operated rental business in the Mid-Atlantic region. It has operations in cities across the length and breadth of the US, where they promise rental vehicles at competitive rates, with a service-led approach that retains a local, personal touch.
Location
NextCar’s Miami Airport branch is located at 4101 NW 28th Street, Miami, where it operates 24 hours a day. After landing, customers travel from their terminal to the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) – where you’ll find the rental car center – using the MIA Mover, the airport’s automated people-mover system. From here, go to Shuttle Stops 1 or 2, located near the center’s exit, where you’ll find NextCar's shuttle stop. After pick up, you’ll be transported to their off-airport lot, which is around a 3-minute ride away.

For price-sensitive travellers, compact cars such as the Hyundai Accent or Kia Rio are available, with prices starting around $26 per day. Mid-range options include intermediate sedans like the Toyota Corolla or Nissan Sentra, typically priced from $45 per day.

Insurance and Deposits
NextCar’s insurance and deposit policies require renters to have either their own personal auto insurance that includes collision and comprehensive coverage, or a credit card that provides coverage for rental vehicles. Alternatively, renters can purchase NextCar’s Physical Damage Waiver (PDW) or Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) at the counter.
A security deposit is held on your card for the duration of the rental: for credit card holders, this can range from $500 to $2,500 depending on the vehicle and insurance coverage, while debit card holders must provide a minimum deposit of $150. The deposit is released once the car is returned in good condition, with fuel topped up and no outstanding fines or tolls – though refunds may take 10–15 business days to process.

This score reflects the average of several individual ratings, including overall value for money, cleanliness of the car, service at the rental desk, the car hire pick-up process, and the drop-off process. The highest individual score was for cleanliness of the car at 6.8, while the lowest score was for the pick-up process at 5.0.
