Review: Hertz Car Rental - Honolulu Airport
Founded in 1918 in Chicago, Hertz original started with just a small fleet of Ford Model T cars. It was Sold to John D. Insurance and Deposit
At Hertz Honolulu Airport, some bookings may not include damage or theft cover as standard, so travelers relying on credit card insurance should bring written proof from their card provider confirming that the coverage applies in Hawaii and to rental cars. Otherwise, Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) can be purchased at the Hertz desk. As with many rental policies, tyres, windscreens, glass, and the undercarriage are often excluded, so it’s worth confirming the exact coverage when signing the agreement.
Hertz requires a refundable security deposit at pick-up, secured with a physical credit card in the lead driver’s name. Debit cards and mobile wallet versions of cards are not typically accepted. The deposit is released when the car is returned without additional charges, and a small fuel deposit may also be placed to ensure the fuel policy is followed. The same credit card used to book the rental is generally required again at the counter.
